Our tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore.
Captain Sir Thomas Moore, popularly known as Captain Tom, was a British Army officer and businessman who raised money for charity in the run-up to his 100th birthday during the COVID-19 pandemic. He served in India and the Burma campaign during the Second World War, and later became an instructor in armoured warfare.
The 100-year-old, who raised almost £33m for NHS charities by walking laps of his garden, sadly caught and died from covid himself.
Truly extraordinary things achieved by an ordinary man, we will miss him.
